Ebenezer Scrooge

The male lead of the show that portrays many emotions as well as the ability to looks and act the part of an older English gentleman.  He is highly educated, cunning, and a shrewd businessman. He should have a strong ability to sing several songs, ability to improvise, ability to lead and work well with others. Not afraid of heights. 


Narrator

Loveable, charming and charismatic personality that is able to communicate the: who, what, when, where, why and how of the show to the audience. Should have great comedic timing and improvisation. Should have some vocal ability and will need to learn how to ride a horse. 


Bob Cratchit

Bob is an employee of Ebenezer Scrooge. He barely makes enough money to support his wife and children. Bob is unsure and cowardly whenever he is around Mr. Scrooge. Bob’s family is his pride and joy and it’s the moments when he is with them that he can truly be himself; full of unwavering faith, confidence, love and hope.

Male, lead, many lines, many emotions, strong leadership, work well with children. Some ability to sing.


Fred

Fred loves the lord and shines is inner light bright. He is married to Elizabeth and they are expecting their first child. Fred’s mother died in child birth so that looms over him. Fred desires a closer relationship with his Uncle Scrooge and refuses to give up on trying to make things right.

Male, lead, many lines, many emotions, strong ability to sing and lead.


Supporting Male Roles:

Vincent

Vincent is one of Fred’s closest friends. He is married to Rebecca and has quite the sense of humor. Vincent is loyal to Fred but still enjoys poking fun at his Uncle Scrooge. 

Male, lead, several lines, comedic timing, ability to project and speak clearly.


Ghost of C’mas Present: The Ghost of Christmas Past is the second ghost to visit Mr. Scrooge. This ghost is loud and boisterous. Full of life and the true spirit of Christmas.  This ghost finds joy and laughter in every moment and is sent to show Mr. Scrooge what is happening right before his eyes in the now. 

Male or female, lead, several lines, must have ability to remember many cues. Strong voice and ability to sing and laugh repeatedly. Strong body movement, not afraid of heights. 


Ghost of C’mas Future

The Ghost of Christmas Future is the third and final ghost who haunts Mr. Scrooge! He is a dark, scary, intimidating spirit sent to show Mr. Scrooge his future. 

Actor should have excellent body movements and the ability to portray an ominous presence.


Jacob Marley

Jacob Marley is the former business partner of Ebenezer Scrooge. He is a lost soul roaming the earth. The poor choices he made in life are now haunting him in death and his mission is to warn Mr. Scrooge that he is on the path to suffer the same fate. 

Male, lead, many lines. Emotionally able to portray pain, remorse and sorrow. Some ability to sing and stay in tune, strong, loud voice. Ability to ride a horse (Training is mandatory)


Young Marley

Jacob Marley as a young man just starting in business eager to make a name for himself. 

Male, supporting, a few lines. Ability to project and speak clearly


Father Scrooge

The father of Ebenezer Scrooge who has very similar mannerisms and personality as his son. He is strong and distant with his children. He holds a strong grudge against Ebenezer.

Male, supporting, a few lines. Ability to project and speak clearly. 


Young Adult Scrooge

Young Adult Scrooge is currently engaged to Belle. She is the true love of his life yet he is consumed with his pursuits of never being poor. He is torn between his love for money and his love for Belle. These are the defining moments that make him the man he will become for the rest of his life.

Male, supporting, moderate lines. Many emotions. Ability to project and speak clearly.


Young Adult Marley

Business partner of Ebenezer Scrooge


Young Scrooge

Preteen Scrooge is currently in elementary school. He deals with hurt and disappointment at a young age after his parents sent him away to school. The root of his character is formed at this age. Age 9-13

Young male, supporting, a few lines. Many emotions, ability to memorize lines, project and speak clearly.


Bernard

Volunteer in the prison ministry looking to business men for donations.  Male, supporting, a few lines. Ability to project and speak clearly.


Jeeves

The personal Butler of Mr. Scrooge. He assists Mr. Scrooge by keeping the house in order and helping him take his shoes off! Jeeves is eccentric, clever and sharp. He tries to find the joy in working for Mr. Scrooge in spite of his grumpiness.

Male, lead, several lines. Strong ability to sing and dance. Comedic timing and ability to improvise. Slap-stick comedy. Bilingual a plus. 


The Constable

The Constable is constantly on patrol through the streets of London. He is responsible for keeping the peace and is often troubled by the Town Crier’s antics. 

Male, supporting, a few lines. Ability to speak clearly and project. Comedic timing. 


Town Crier

The Town Crier is responsible for eavesdropping throughout the city of London and sharing that news with any open ear! The Town Crier loves stirring up trouble for the Constable. Full of life, energy and excitement. 

Male or female, lead, many lines, many emotions.  Strong voice and ability to speak and project clearly.


Peter Cratchit

Peter is the eldest of the Cratchit sons and is protective of his little brother, Tim. 

Young boy, a few lines. Ability to memorize lines and project and speak clearly.


Tiny Tim

Tiny Tim is the youngest in the Cratchit family.  He is a Daddy’s boy! Tim has a disease that if left untreated can be fatal; yet Tim remains full of faith that he will be completely healed!


David Bothelby

David and his wife, Mary, are the lowest of beggars. They have no home. No income, no food and their only child is sick and about to die. 

Male, supporting. Strong ability to sing with great emotion


Oliver Gray

Business Partner of David Bothelby. 


Marketplace Sellers

Christmas tree seller, fruit/bread seller, etc.

Male or female, supporting, a few lines. Able to speak and project clearly.
